A playful, almost no-bake treat — toasted marshmallows turn into crisp-chewy little cookies, topped with chewy dried fruit and savoury cheese. Made in the takoyaki plate of the BRUNO Oval Hot Plate, they cook in minutes and look adorable served straight from the plate.
Ingredients
- 12 marshmallows
- 12 pieces mixed dried fruit
- Natural hard cheese, to taste (sliced 2mm, cut into 6–7mm squares)
- Coarsely ground black pepper, to taste
Method
- Set the takoyaki plate, preheat on MED for 4 minutes, then very lightly wipe the holes with oil using kitchen paper. Slice the cheese 2mm thick and cut into 6–7mm squares.
- Cut each marshmallow in half across the middle and place cut-side up in the holes (start from the back, away from the plug), heating on MED.
- As the marshmallows soften, top with the dried fruit and cheese, pressing in gently so the marshmallow flattens slightly. Add a little black pepper over the cheese if you like.
- Keep on MED and bake for 3–3½ minutes, then switch off. Use the lift handle to transfer them onto a silicone mat and cool for about 15 minutes.
Tip: The marshmallows are still soft straight off the plate, so let them cool fully before lifting out. Bake until lightly golden for a crisp finish, or keep it brief for a chewier, more marshmallowy bite — dried-fruit versions stay good for 2–3 days, but the cheese ones are best eaten the same day.
