Saucy stir-fried noodles loaded with sausage, veg and a blanket of melting cheese — this crowd-pleasing cheese yakisoba with ketchup and mayo cooks on the flat plate of the BRUNO Oval Hot Plate. An easy, fun dinner you finish right at the table.
Ingredients
- ½ head broccoli, in bite-size florets
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 2 portions Chinese-style (chukamen) noodles
- ½ onion, thinly sliced
- 4–5 wieners (sausages), halved
- 50g mushrooms, drained
- 50g sweetcorn, drained
- 1 tsp stock/consommé powder
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- 80g melting cheese
Method
- Put the broccoli on a heatproof dish, sprinkle with salt, drizzle with the olive oil, cover and microwave (500W / 3 minutes). Microwave the noodles in their bag (500W / 30 seconds) and loosen.
- Heat the flat plate on HI, add a little olive oil and spread it with kitchen paper.
- Spread out the loosened noodles, sprinkle over the stock powder and squeeze on the ketchup. Beside them, add the onion and wieners and squeeze on the mayonnaise. Cover and steam-fry for 2–3 minutes.
- Work the ketchup through the noodles, then cover them with the melting cheese. Scatter over the cooked onion, wieners, broccoli, corn and mushrooms, switch to MED, cover and cook for another 2–3 minutes.
- Toss the noodles and cheese together until the cheese has melted, then serve.
Tip: Thicker noodles work better than fine ones here — they hold the sauce and cheese without going soft.
