Ingredients

  • 100g milk chocolate (for the batter)
  • 60g unsalted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 30g caster sugar
  • 20g plain flour
  • 35g milk chocolate (for the centres)
  • Icing sugar, to dust

Method

  1. Bring the eggs and butter to room temperature. Break the batter chocolate into small pieces and sift the flour. Melt the batter chocolate and butter together over a bain-marie.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar, then combine with the melted chocolate. Fold in the flour until smooth with no dry streaks.
  3. Fill the moulds to about 70%, press a piece of chocolate into the centre of each, then place in the glass basket and set into the unit.
  4. Select the “Sweets” menu (155°C / 20 min) and press start.
  5. When baked, remove and dust with icing sugar to serve.
Tip. Because the centre is chocolate, the fondants can bake quickly — at 20 minutes, insert a skewer near the edge; if the batter doesn’t cling to it, they’re done. To reheat, microwave in a microwave-safe cup for 20 sec (600W) or 30 sec (500W).
