Description

TOSHIBA Enzyme Activation IH Rice Cooker | RC-BHH Series

Japanese-made 3D IH with a low-temperature enzyme stage, from about half the price of the vacuum models.

Enzyme activation is Toshiba's name for holding the rice at a low temperature at the start of the cycle, before the boil, so the grain's own amylase has time to convert starch into sugars. The result is a sweeter, glossier grain from ordinary supermarket rice. The RC-BHH pairs it with 3D induction heating and a 3 mm seven-layer binchotan-and-copper pot, and it is the most affordable Japanese-built IH cooker Toshiba makes.

Every key is labelled in English. The control panel carries English wording alongside the Chinese — KEEP WARM, TIMER, MENU, START, OFF/CANCEL — and the menu names on the display read in English too. A full English owner’s manual is supplied.

Product Features:

  • Enzyme activation: a low-temperature holding stage that lets the rice's natural enzymes develop sweetness before the boil begins.
  • 3D induction heating for even heat around the pot.
  • 3 mm, 7-layer binchotan pot with copper coating.
  • 12 cooking modes including sweet rice, quick, white, sticky, okoge, congee, GABA brown, mixed and brown.
  • 3 rice texture settings — delicious, sticky or hard.
  • Nutritional cooking mode and a 24-hour keep-warm cycle.
  • Smart touch panel with built-in clock and two timer presets.
  • Made in Japan.

Product Care

Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Wash the inner pot, inner lid and steam vent after every use; they are all removable.
  • Wipe the outer body and control panel with a soft, damp cloth — never an abrasive pad.
  • Do not use metal utensils, whisks or scouring brushes inside the pot: the non-stick coating is what keeps rice from catching.
  • Never place the inner pot on a hob or in a microwave.
  • Leave the lid open for a while after cooking so the cavity dries out.
FAQ
What is enzyme activation?

The cooker holds the rice at a low temperature at the start of the cycle rather than heading straight for the boil. That gives the amylase naturally present in the grain time to break starch down into sugars, which makes the finished rice taste sweeter. It is a setting, not an additive.

Is this really made in Japan at this price?

Yes. The RC-BHH is built in Japan, as are the RC-DX, RC-DS, RC-DR, RC-DZ and RC-AMXH ranges. Toshiba’s Thailand-built cookers are a separate, lower-priced line that we do not stock.

Why 1.5L rather than the usual 1.8L?

The RC-BHH tops out at 1.5L, which is 8 cups — enough for a household of six to eight. If you need 10 cups, look at the RC-DR or RC-DS in 1.8L.

Is the panel in Chinese?

It is labelled in both, with English on every key — TIMER, TASTE, MENU, START, OFF/CANCEL — and English menu names on the display. A full English owner’s manual is supplied.

Will it work on UK mains?

Yes, and this range is the most straightforward of all: it is rated 220–240V~ 50/60Hz, so UK mains sits in the middle of its specification. No transformer is required.

Enzyme Activation Technology

A low-temperature holding stage lets the grain's own enzymes work before the boil, so the sweetness of the rice can be doubled.* *SGS test report
