Description
TOSHIBA Vacuum & Pressure IH Rice Cooker | RC-DX Series
A vacuum pump draws the air out of the pot so water reaches the core of every grain.
The RC-DX is the top of Toshiba's Japanese-built range. Before heating begins a vacuum pump removes the air from the inner pot, so water is drawn into the core of each grain rather than sitting around it — then the cooker applies variable pressure between 0.5 and 1.2 atmospheres to finish. The inner pot is the thickest Toshiba makes at 7 mm, coated with binchotan charcoal on the outside and diamond-and-titanium inside.
Every key is labelled in English. The control panel carries English wording alongside the Chinese — KEEP WARM, TIMER, MENU, START, OFF/CANCEL — and the menu names on the display read in English too. A full English owner’s manual is supplied.
Product Features:
- Vacuum soaking: a built-in pump evacuates the pot so water penetrates the grain instead of merely surrounding it.
- Automatic pressure cooking, 0.5–1.2 atm: pressure is adjusted and released by programme, so brown rice and whole grains cook through without pre-soaking.
- 7 mm inner pot — the thickest in the range. Binchotan far-infrared coating outside, diamond and titanium coating inside.
- Wave-formed pot base to strengthen convection while boiling.
- 40-hour vacuum keep warm: the pot is re-evacuated and sealed, so rice stays moist far longer than ordinary keep-warm.
- 4 rice types, 7 rice menus, 3 special menus (steam, cake, soup).
- Smart touch panel with 24-hour clock and two timer presets.
- Made in Japan.

Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Wash the inner pot, inner lid and steam vent after every use; they are all removable.
- Check the vacuum air inlet and outlet and the lid packing are clear — if anything is trapped there the cooker cannot draw a vacuum.
- Wipe the outer body and control panel with a soft, damp cloth — never an abrasive pad.
- Do not use metal utensils, whisks or scouring brushes inside the pot: the non-stick coating is what keeps rice from catching.
- Never place the inner pot on a hob or in a microwave.
- Leave the lid open for a while after cooking so the cavity dries out.
Before cooking starts, a pump draws the air out of the sealed inner pot. Water is then pushed into the centre of each grain instead of just soaking the surface, so the rice cooks evenly without being left to stand first. The same pump re-evacuates the pot during keep warm.
It is labelled in both. Every key carries English wording — KEEP WARM, TIMER, MENU, START, OFF/CANCEL — and the display shows menu names such as White, Brown, Congee and Steam in English. Toshiba also supplies a full English owner’s manual.
Because the RC-DX is designed around vacuum keep warm, which runs to 40 hours and holds moisture far better than any ordinary keep-warm cycle. The 12-hour figure applies only if you switch the vacuum function off.
The 1.0L cooks up to 5.5 cups and suits one to six people; the 1.8L cooks up to 10 cups. Rice cookers work best when between a third and two thirds full, so the 1.0L is the better buy for a household of two or three.
Yes. The 1.8L is rated 220–240V and the 1.0L 220V, both at 50–60Hz, so the UK 230V/50Hz supply is within specification. No transformer is required.

Vacuum Soaking Technology
With the help of a vacuum pump removing air from the inner pot, water replaces air and permeates the core of the rice grains, making each one puffed.

Rice Grains Saturated with Water Make Cooking Easier and Lighter
Rice from the vacuum & pressure cooker is more plump and shiny than rice from a regular cooker, and more fragrant and sweet.

Automatic Pressure Cooking
The cooker adjusts pressure release automatically by mode, making rice viscous and glossy. Brown rice and grains turn out mellow without soaking.

7mm Thick Non-Stick Inner Pot
Binchotan charcoal far-infrared coating outside, diamond and titanium coating inside. Six layers: titanium coating, thick aluminium for conductivity, iron and stainless heating element, binchotan far-infrared coating.

Wave Design at the Bottom of the Inner Pot
The waved base increases the bubbles rising through the rice, creating heat convection so every grain is heated evenly.

IH — Heated Evenly
Induction heating warms the pot itself rather than a plate beneath it, so heat reaches the rice from every side.

Multi-function Cooking Menus
4 menus for different rice types, 7 rice cooking menus and 3 special menus — flexible enough for cake baking and soup making.
