TOSHIBA Enzyme Activation Rice Cooker | RC-AMXH Series

The most affordable way into a Japanese-built Toshiba, with 13 cooking modes.

The RC-AMXH is the entry point to Toshiba's Japanese-built range. It uses conventional heating rather than induction — a plate beneath the pot rather than a coil around it — but keeps the enzyme activation stage, the 3 mm six-layer binchotan pot and the widest menu list of any model here, at 13 modes including jasmine and basmati settings that the IH models do not carry.

Every key is labelled in English. The control panel carries English wording alongside the Chinese — KEEP WARM, TIMER, MENU, START, OFF/CANCEL — and the menu names on the display read in English too. A full English owner’s manual is supplied.

Product Features:

  • Enzyme activation: a low-temperature stage before the boil that develops the grain's own sweetness.
  • 13 cooking modes — the longest list in the range, including jasmine and basmati settings.
  • 3 mm, 6-layer binchotan pot with copper coating and a far-infrared stainless layer.
  • 3D heating effect from a shaped heating plate and lid element.
  • 3 rice texture settings — delicious, sticky or hard.
  • 24-hour keep warm and two 24-hour finish-time presets.
  • Quick cook shortcut key on the panel.
  • Made in Japan.

Product Care

Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Wash the inner pot, inner lid and steam vent after every use; they are all removable.
  • Wipe the outer body and control panel with a soft, damp cloth — never an abrasive pad.
  • Do not use metal utensils, whisks or scouring brushes inside the pot: the non-stick coating is what keeps rice from catching.
  • Never place the inner pot on a hob or in a microwave.
  • Leave the lid open for a while after cooking so the cavity dries out.
FAQ
This is not an IH cooker — does that matter?

It depends what you cook. IH heats the pot itself from all sides and holds a more precise temperature, which shows most with brown rice and large batches. For everyday white rice a well-built conventional cooker with a thick pot — which this is — produces very good results for considerably less money.

Why does it have more menus than the expensive models?

The RC-AMXH is aimed at a wider range of rice than the Japanese-market models. It adds jasmine and basmati settings, which the RC-DX, RC-DS and RC-DR do not carry — useful if you cook Thai or Indian rice as often as Japanese.

Is it still made in Japan?

Yes. Toshiba also builds rice cookers in Thailand, but the RC-AMXH is one of the Japanese-built models, as are all the cookers we list.

Is the panel in Chinese?

It is labelled in both. The display reads WHITE RICE, BROWN RICE, OKOGE, STICKY RICE, GABA BROWN, SWEET, SUSHI, STEAM, SOUP/CONGEE, CAKE/BREAD, STICKY and JASMINE in English, and each key carries English wording under the Chinese. A full English owner’s manual is supplied.

Will it work on UK mains?

Yes. It is rated 220V~ 50Hz, which the UK 230V/50Hz supply meets. No transformer is required.
